Today we attended a Team Women luncheon. What an i Today we attended a Team Women luncheon. What an incredible group of women!

Listening to today’s presentation left us inspired in so many ways. Hearing Heidi Zimmer, founder of Wild Rice Retreat, and Katherine Hayes, a fifth-generation inheritor of the Andersen Windows legacy, share their story was a powerful reminder of what happens when vision meets courage.

Katherine made the bold decision to step away from her family’s traditional investment path to create In Her Interest, an initiative empowering women inheritors of wealth to think differently about capital and impact.

Together with Heidi, she helped bring Wild Rice Retreat to life, blending a family legacy with a dream to create a Zen-like retreat experience in the Midwest. Today it is a three-time Condé Nast award-winning retreat on the shores of Lake Superior.

What struck us most was their persistence. They built this dream during COVID, uncertain of the outcome, yet fully committed to the possibility. Heidi shared a phrase that stayed with us:

“When nothing is certain, anything is possible.”

Their success is a powerful example of what can happen when financial capital is aligned with human potential, and when risk is met with vision at just the right moment. True to our spirit, they have created a place that nourishes the soul, a reminder that sometimes the best answers are found on a long walk in the woods.

Needless to say, Wild Rice Retreat is now on our list.

As we settle into the new year, the Twin Cities housing market feels more grounded than it has in quite some time. After several years of sharp shifts, the pace has leveled out — and that’s not a bad thing.

Mortgage rates have eased from last year’s highs, inventory has slowly improved, and both buyers and sellers are making decisions with more intention and less urgency.

Last year truly was a tale of two markets:
• Strong activity at the entry level, especially under $400K
• Continued momentum at the high end, above $1.5M

So… is it still a seller’s market?
In many cases, yes — but not everywhere. The market hasn’t fully tipped toward buyers, yet it’s more balanced than we’ve seen in recent years. And as we enter 2026, it’s important to remember: the market you’re buying in may look very different from the one you’re selling in.

One area we’re watching closely is homeowners who’ve been in their homes for ten years or less. Many have chosen to sit tight. If more of these sellers decide to come to market this year, it could help unlock movement across multiple price points.

Shift in lending limits worth noting:
In 2026, the conventional loan limit is $832,750, nearly double what it was just ten years ago. One number that tells a much bigger story about how the housing market has evolved.

Big picture: meaningful decisions come from understanding your timing and options, not from trying to predict the market.
